#MoreinCommon Picnic in High Hazels Park on Saturday

Jo Cox standing outside the Palace of Westminster
This weekend HOPE not Hate supporters around the country are holding #MoreInCommon events in their local communities to remember and celebrate the life of Jo Cox, the Yorkshire MP who was murdered in June.

Although the centrepiece will be a large community fun day in Batley, Jo’s hometown, there will be large and smaller community events happening up and down the country, including community picnics and bulb planting sessions.

We are proud to be including a #MoreinCommon picnic in our Darnall Carnival celebrations, starting at 1pm in High Hazels Park. Bring a picnic to share on the grass or buy some food from the caterers who will be running stalls at the event.

Read our post about Jo Cox's murder.

Horse Dressage is a sport of beauty and is only possible when there is a true bond between horse and rider.

Come and see the horse dressage show at Darnall Carnival on 3rd September in High Hazels Park.

Update on the Darnall Green Spaces Fly-tipping Project

Unfortunately we have heard from the Greggs' Environmental Grants Programme that the Darnall Environment Forum's Green Spaces Project to reduce fly-tipping in Darnall does not meet their environmental priorities. They said, "We read your application with interest, but ... whilst the value of the work was recognised, it scored below the required standard in one or more of our priority areas." We got a similar response from the Tesco Bags of Help Fund.

We know how important this issue is to local residents and we didn't want you to think that we are doing nothing about it. A great deal of effort goes into funding applications of this kind. However, funders are entitled to choose their own priorities and we are wondering whether fly tipping is actually something which interests them. The Environment Forum will rethink its approach to tackling this issue and consider what other avenues to pursue.
