Help for Jobseekers in Darnall

Each Wednesday from 9 till 12 we run sessions for people who are looking for work. The programme we offer last for 3 weeks and during that time we will help you to
  • improve your CV
  • open an email account so that you can manage your CV on-line and send it to employers
  • register on the government's Universal Jobmatch website
  • search for jobs on the Internet
  • improve your job applications and covering letters
  • build your interview skills
  • You will also receive two hours of tailored support from a trained employment adviser after the course has finished.
We are hoping to offer the same course to people in Slovak if there is enough demand

To enrol please contact Neil or Nazia on 0114 249 0099 or come into The Forum, which is next-door to Darnall Post office at 245 Main Road.

Grant from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation

We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a grant from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation to support Darnall Forum in running Darnall Post Office, in making the Post Office sustainable for the future and in building stronger links between the Post Office and our other work in the community. The Foundation is also giving us some support to help other charities which are thinking of taking over a post office, so that they can learn from our experience. The national charity Locality are going to tell our story, and share our experience, in an on-line article on their website.

Yorkshire Venture Philanthropy Fund

Our Post office

...is now being supported by a grant from the Yorkshire Venture Philanthropy Fund which is administered by the Leeds, Calderdale and South Yorkshire Community Foundations in partnership with the European Union's Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The Community Foundations are keen supporters of social enterprise and believe it is a dynamic way of doing business that can transform local communities. They want to help us build up our post office business so that it can begin to support profound and lasting social change in Darnall.

We need your support to make this possible too. Please consider using our post office to send parcels and other mail, for all all your insurance needs, for vehicle licensing, passport check-and-send and for Post Office savings products.
