  4. When will the building be open to the public?
  5. How can the community have a say in the running and delivery of the centre?
  6. What will be available for young people / families / older people / BME communities?
  7. How will the centre ensure it responds to the health needs of the community?

Choosing a name for the new health centre

NHS Sheffield is inviting the residents of Darnall to suggest a name for their new Health Centre. They have suggested one of the following
  • Main Road Health Centre
  • Darnall Primary Care Centre
  • High Hazels Health Centre
But other suggestions are also welcome.

Darnall Well Being has suggested that it should be called a Healthy Living Centre, because it won't just be a place where we go when we have a problem with our health.

Please send your comments and suggestions to emma.reeve@nhs.net no later than Wednesday 11 April.

The final decision will rest with NHS Sheffield.

Work at Darnall Neighbourhood Park

Work is about to be carried out on Darnall Neighbourhood Park, off Greenland Close and Greenland View, next to the cemetary - http://g.co/maps/xebge

Last year, The Friends of Darnall Neighbourhood Park were successful in securing funding to remove some of the mounds surrounding the new multi use games area on Darnall Neighbourhood Park through the Living Streets programme. The group have long felt that the mounds obstruct views across the site and that local people do not feel safe walking through the park at night.
Streetforce will be starting next week and aim to complete the work in three weeks. There will be machinery and excavated material on site during this time. Please take extra care and keep away from the work areas. The multi use games area will remain open during this time unless a risk to safety becomes evident.
Please contact Chris Roebuck if there are any problems during this time on 0114 205 3772
or by email: christopher.roebuck@sheffield.gov.uk

There is one week to go until the first deadline for Community First grants

  • The deadline for this round is Friday 2nd March 2012.
  • You can apply for amounts of £500 to £2500
  • You apply directly to your local ward panel using a simple application form, the panels are being run by local volunteers and they will make the first funding decisions by the end of March.
  • All requests for funding must be matched by volunteer hours, gifts in kind, cash donations or another funding stream.
The current priorities for the Darnall Panel are:

  1. Safer & Stronger Communities
  2. Children & Young People
  3. Improving Health & Well-Being
  4. Environment
  5. Increasing Employability Skills & Reducing Poverty
Your application should explain how you will help to meet these priorities. Your group will also need its own bank account and, preferably, a constitution or set of rules governing the way it works. The staff at Darnall or Tinsley Forum can help you to put this together if necessary.
